“The Best Dentist Near Me”
Is this how you start your quest to find the new dentist of your dreams?
If it is, let me offer some tips and suggestions to help you find the right dentist to make your teeth happy.

Don’t Search for a Dentist
You didn’t think I’d save the best advice for last, did you? This is an honest suggestion. Search for the specialists that general dentists work with the most. Find some highly rated periodontists, endodontists, oral surgeons and orthodontists. Call, and ask them who they would recommend. These are the people who see the dentist’s work first hand. They see what kind of attention to detail goes into the planning, and execution of treatment.
When you ask them for some recommendations, there’s a good chance that you’ll hear some names being repeated by several specialists. These are the dentists that you want to see.
Read Some Reviews
When you have found a name or two that have been recommended by more than one specialist, go ahead and look up their practices online. I’m sure you’ll find some reviews on Google and Yelp. If you aren’t in a major city you might have to look up some third party reviews. I prefer to look at the two I mentioned because they have pretty strict rules about solicitation of reviews. Third party review sites often send emails asking for feedback and then redirect the negative reviews to be filtered by the dentist.
Read the good, the bad and the ugly and do your best to get a feel for what the practice values. If similar themes come up, such as gentle and painless, and that resonates with you – you may have found your dentist.
Meet in Person
Any dentist interested in long-term relationships will be happy to meet you in person. When you come to that appointment, be prepared. Have your most important concerns written down on a piece of paper. Ask them. They will be happy to answer them. Practice philosophy, financial arrangements, technology, interests outside of the office – all of these subjects could be important to you.
Simply being in the office will give you the final information that you need to make your decision. How the doctors demeanor is when sitting with you will help, too. Is it a busy office? Too busy maybe? Too slow? Does the office look and smell clean? Only you can decide what feels right for you. I hope these few ideas might just help you successfully end your quest for the “best dentist near you”.
